"Love thecomedians.org. Needs more chicks."
– Krista W. of Boston, MA
Good point. That’s an issue I’ve thought about. The majority of comedians featured in this publication will probably be male because the majority of comedians are male. A casting agent once told me that when he solicits headshots for movies or plays, women outnumber men 3:1; for improv or stand-up, men outnumber women 4:1. That’s only one account but it illustrates a point.
It would be very easy to feature ONLY men here; easy and dull. However, I’m not interested in quotas and would not want to diminish the efforts of women who appear in this publication by meeting one. And another thing, Krista, you’re right.
"A comment on your Editor's Note: I have always had difficulty with comedy routines that poke fun at those with mental disabilities. During the time I worked at American School for the Deaf, I became acutely aware of jokes aimed at deafness in particular and physical disabilities in general, as well. Is it just a matter of taste? No - your quote by Carlin is extremely appropriate. What Carlin said was that it all depends on where the emphasis of the joke is. In his rape example, he made fun of the RAPIST and the RAPE, not the VICTIM. Humor that pokes fun at the powerless and innocent is not funny, UNLESS it is constructed in such a way as to actually pointing out the ridiculousness of the reality they are forced to exist in.

Excellent point, Bob. Thank you.
"I just checked out the site and love it. I enjoy that kind of thing anyway, interviews with creative types - especially if they're funny. I love the look of the site, as well as the content. I also think you've tapped into something that doesn't exist elsewhere, so you're filling a void. Brilliant. Also appreciated that it isn't some vulgar (looking), annoying, garish, ad-laden site that will give you a headache just to visit. The design is classy, understated, cool. Great, great, great. Takes the comedians seriously without losing sight of the funny."

"Love the website so much, it made my scarf unravel."
